Physical Training


The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods are complimentary exercise methods developed by professional dancer Juliu Horvath. Both methods were developed to help Horvath recover strength and agility after debilitating injuries suffered during his dance career.

GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods are both highly adaptable, making them accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. I have worked with a variety of people, including golfers aiming to increase their range of motion and flexibility, senior citizens wanting to increase their strength and improve their posture, and yoga instructors recovering from work-related injuries. It is wonderful to see how these methods can help a person regain the joy of moving with ease and power.

Gyrotonic exercises are performed on custom-designed equipment and enable the simultaneous lengthening and strengthening of muscles, stimulate circulation and enhance joint mobility and coordination. The exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements that flow together in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breathing patterns. This allows the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression, creating balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.


Gyrokinesis exercises are performed using a chair and a mat. They gently work the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic movement sequences. It is an original and unique movement method that has benefits and qualities similar to those found in Yoga, Tai Chi, gymnastics and dance. Classes are taught either in a private format or in small groups.
